“Sakuntala” is a renowned Indian play by the legendary poet Kalidasa, based on the ancient Indian epic, the Mahabharata. The love story between King Dushyanta and Sakuntala is considered one of the most beautiful in world literature and holds a special place in the tradition of Sanskrit drama.
In Sri Lankan production, this Sanskrit drama titled as “Sakuntalaya,” is directed by playwright Akhila Sapumal and features renowned actor Sanath Wimalasiri in the role of King Dushyanta. The play will be staged on June 1st at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the Tower Hall Theatre Maradana and show organized by X Drama Events collaboration with PACT Entertainment.
